Washington, D.C.- The Honorable Yosiwo P. George, Vice President of the Federated States of Micronesia visited Washington, D.C., the United States Capital, on the 23rd to the 25th of November 2018. He was accompanied by Special Assistant to the President's Office, Mr. Herman Semes, Jr.
The visit was part of Vice President's efforts to meet with staff at the FSM Embassy in D.C., as well as staff at the FSM consulates in the U.S. The discussions focused primarily on budgetary and administrative matters as well as other pertinent consular related issues. Vice President George met with Ambassador Akillino Susaia, Mr. Jackson Soram, Deputy Chief of Mission and the Embassy staff on the morning of the 24th. On the same day, he also conducted an outreach meeting with FSM citizens residing in the greater Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Prior to his departure on the morning of the 25th, Vice President was briefed by Arnold & Porter, a D.C.-based law firm that the FSM had retained for its lobbying efforts. He was provided with a briefing on issues on the Hill that are of interest to the FSM.
Vice President George left at noon on November 25th for New York where he will also meet with the Permanent Representative and staff at the FSM Permanent Mission in New York.
