Washington D.C. – On May 23rd, 2019, His Excellency David W. Panuelo, President of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), hosted a breakfast meeting with powerhouse D.C-based nonprofit organizations (NGOs) for potential cooperation. He met with Mr. Tracy R. Wolstencroft, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Geographic Society (NGS), and also in attendance were Mr. Dan Myer, Director of Public Policy at NGS; Mr. Seth Horstmeyer, Program Director of Oceans5; and Ms. Kathryn J. Mengerink, J.D., Ph.D., Executive Director of the Waitt Foundation.

New Zealand Ambassador Banks Paid Courtesy Call on Ambassador Susaia

Washington, D.C., January 18, 2019 - Her Excellency Ambassador Rosemary Banks, newly appointed Ambassador for New Zealand to the United States, paid a courtesy call on Ambassador Susaia on the 18th of January 2019. After the usual welcoming and exchange of pleasantries, the dialogue between the two shifted its focus to issues and matters of mutual interest for both New Zealand and FSM. They discussed issues including climate change and how best to collaborate in D.C., to further promote the interest of the Pacific region.

Washington, DC, April 09, 2019- Wednesday, 3rd of April 2019, Mr. David Anitok from the COFA Alliance National Network (CANN), Oregon chapter and Mr. Alson Kellen, Executive Director for the Waan Aelon in Majel (WAM) Program who was also a former Mayor of Bikini atoll paid a courtesy call on Ambassador Susaia. The courtesy call granted an opportunity for the Embassy to be briefed on the current and ongoing engagements of both organizations, particularly their endeavors advocating for COFA citizens.

Senate Eyes Telehealth to Help Pacific Island Veterans Access Care

Washington DC, May 03, 2019- The Embassy of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) in D.C., continues to engage on the Capitol Hill with the U.S. Congress on a variety of issues including advocacy work on FSM veterans’ affairs issues. Through these collaborations, a recent bill was introduced by Senators Brian Schatz (D-HI) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) regarding a pilot project that would enable US veterans in the Pacific islands including the Freely Associated States have the ability to access support from the U.S. Government while in the islands.
